Spring at last!

Spring at last! I love this time of year, the plants are growing and all the animals are having cute little babies (some more cute than others). My fish pond is full of frogspawn so I had to buy a new net to transfer some into my 'fish free' ponds at the end of the garden. I don't think the frogs are very keen on all the newts but if I leave the spawn where it is the fish will surely eat all the tadpoles. Back to the bugs, they too are reproducing, my Kilimanjaro Baboon has laid an egg sac and I will be introducing my Costa Rican Chevron tarantulas this week. I have been waiting ages for a mature male to go with my female. Some Horse-Head grasshoppers emerged a few days ago, hopefully more will hatch soon, my Cave crickets have produced young at last and everyone is offering me their new stock. The bug room is overflowing. I'm so glad we rearranged the shelving last week, it has given me so much more room to work. I bought in a large number of spiders, scorpions and b...

Little time for blogging

Sorry, little time for blogging this morning. It has been a busy week with lots of new animals in. We spent yesterday rearranging the shelving in both my office and bug room (hubby had a couple of days off his work, so as usual I had him helping with mine!). I am really pleased with the results. I now have the deeper shelves in my office for storage and the more shallow shelving units in my bug room. This gives me so much more space to move around and I don't feel I have lost a lot of shelving as most of the extra depth was wasted. If I were to put things at the back of the shelving I would run the risk of overlooking it, so I tended to only use the front of the shelving anyway. I have some lovely new scorpions and hopefully some will prove to be gravid. I had a bit of a problem with the new Train millipedes. I was sold them as large and small Train millipedes and put them on my website accordingly. I then realised that they are two different species, even though they look almost...

March at last

March at last and Spring is in the air. It has been another busy week, although I had very few orders to send out at the beginning of the week. Orders generally come in over the weekend but you can never tell for sure. I Received my largest order ever this week. Those of you who check my tarantula stock regularly may have noticed how depleted it suddenly looks. However both bugs and spiders come in all the time so they will soon be replaced by others. I collected some more Imperial scorpions, millipedes and spiderlings on Monday and I am hoping to pop down to London this afternoon to pick up some African creatures. I'm not sure what? Hopefully Train millipedes, Bush crickets, scorpions and spiders but I'm not positive they are in yet. It could be a case of waiting until next week. The 'open afternoon' went well last Saturday. I only had a few visitors but it was nice so I am planning another one soon. It will probably be Saturday 5th April (the next Saturday that I...
