It is now officially Spring!

It is now officially Spring! I only wish the weather reflected that fact. Evidently it has been the coldest March for 50 years, oh I hate it!!! My new bug room is finished, well almost, the outer door repair didn't go to plan so it needs replacing but we will be moving the bugs in over the long Easter weekend. It will be stressful and hard work but I know it is the right thing to do in the long run. As I have said from the start, my only real worry is how we will fit everything in. I keep planning where the shelving will go and cannot figure out how to get it right. Let's hope that the old saying "where there's a will there's a way" is true. I certainly have the will, I am so looking forward to having everything in one place. No more trips up and down the garden, no more running in to answer the doorbell, no more traipsing through the house with armfuls of bramble and no more talking to customers in the porch when they come to collect an order. In all honest...

A long week

It seems to have been a long week. Everything in the bug house continues to thrive. I bought some lovely adult Indian scorpions this week but I haven't had time to sort them out yet so you won't find them on the website. I have so many animals coming and going that it is difficult to keep up. I have now placed my order for a number of African spiders, scorpions and various bugs, they should arrive fairly soon, within March I'm told. The weather continues to be more Winter than Spring. I was delighted to see masses of frogspawn in one of our pond yesterday. I wasn't so delighted to be collecting bramble in the pouring rain. I have found a new bramble spot! I was helping to look for a lost dog a couple of weeks ago and came upon a secluded, little old grave yard. It is covered in lush bramble. At this time of year it is great to find a good supply, I have been visiting the local Homebase car park for months and there really isn't much bramble left. I have cut dow...

Nearly Spring

Nearly Spring, if you look at the date it is, if you look out of the window it's not so certain. I am really fed up with the cold weather. It has been another busy week for both my hubby and I, he has taken most of the week off work to crack on with my new bug room and I have been posting orders, answering emails and continually feeding and cleaning my ever growing menagerie. I have received new millipedes and snails this week and I have also ordered a number of spiders (tarantulas & true spiders), scorpions, more millipedes and beetles. I hope these will arrive in a couple of weeks time. The bug room is certainly taking shape but there is just so much to do. I feel it is really important to get it right as I have never been happy with my current log cabin. It looks great but is impractical, the new bug room will be very practical. It will be painted white, all surfaces will be washable. The floor will be totally sealed as will be every nook and cranny. There are lots of pipe...
