Busy, busy, Spring is on the way

Busy, busy, Spring is on the way. Thankfully business has really picked up and I have plenty of orders. After those appalling winter months I am extremely pleased. All is going well in the bug house and I discovered yesterday they I have some baby Giant Orange Blush millipedes. I am really delighted as these millipedes are new to the hobby, they only came into the country at the end of last year (I had never seen them before and neither had the importer). They are a large, attractive species so I am very pleased to have bred them. Millipedes are pretty popular at the moment and I have been making a real effort to breed as many species as possible. My African Olive millipedes are breeding well but unfortunately I still haven't managed to get hold of any Giant Train millipedes. I have also seen what appear to be larvae in my Tok-Tokie beetle box. I will have a proper look when I feed them today. Sadly, although I am constantly asked for beetles, it is clear from my website statistics...

What a busy week and thank goodness for that

What a busy week and thank goodness for that. All those people who said that they would place an order when they got paid at the end of the month, were clearly telling the truth. It's rather a shame that the influx of orders has come at the same time as the coldest weather this winter but I am happy to say that I have had no problems with the post this week. Everything has arrived on time and in good order. I have spent a lot longer packing each parcel, using larger boxes, long lasting heat packs and plenty of insulation but it has certainly been worth the effort. Schools, colleges and zoos are getting organised for the coming Spring season - so all is good with the world, well my little world anyway. I had a lovely birthday last Friday, thanks for your best wishes and Happy Birthdays. I have customers calling tomorrow so I will need to clear up the bug house today. I have been busy out there this week, when one cage is emptied there is always something else coming along to fill ...

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me! Yes, it is my birthday today and I'm 21 again. It's been a good week, very busy, due to all the new bugs and spiders that I got from the show last weekend and the end of the month pay day. It was a great show, the second South of England Arachnid show, organised by the Invicta arachnid club. They really are a very friendly bunch, if I lived a bit nearer I would certainly join their club but unfortunately they are about 80 miles from me, in Ashford, Kent. The venue too is brilliant, a lovely hotel. I really think we may make a weekend of it next year and stay in the hotel, perhaps on the Friday and Saturday night (planning ahead for next year's birthday). It would of course depend on our daughter being around for all the animals, honestly just going out for a day with all this lot is a major event. I was very pleased to actually make it to the show, after moaning last week about my stinking cold I woke up on Saturday with a tummy bug. I felt so sick all...
