Common Name: Mexican Blonde Tarantula
Scientific Name: Aphonopelma chalcodes
Status: Captive Bred
Country of origin - Mexico (Southern states of the USA)
Habitat: Ground dwelling
Suitability: Good for beginners, docile, large, attractive and long lived
My Opinion:
The Mexican Blonde is a popular pet spider, they take many years to mature (they are very slow growing) but they can live for up to 25 years in captivity! They are generally docile and are a pretty tarantula. The adults are mostly imported from the wild so in my opinion it is best to purchase a youngster. They have several common names, some are - Arizona Blonde, Tucson Blonde, Desert Blonde.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is difficult to give a size for the spiders as stock is constantly changing. Generally, the small size is a spiderling up to 1cm body length (small will be SMALL), juvenile is a grown on spiderling with a body length of 1cm to 1.5cm, medium 2cm to 4cm and a large is 4cm to fully adult (but a lot depends on the species!)
I am happy to send a photo of any size tarantula spider that you are interested in, just email me!
All spiders are unsexed unless stated.
