Pop In & Pick Up Weekend

I will be having a Spider evening on Friday 30th November 6.30-8.30. All are welcome, no rules but if it is chaos I will put some in place for the next one! Come along for a chat, watch some spiders at a time that they come out to play and feel free to buy if you wish (there is no obligation to buy)

  • Haplopelma lividum - Cobalt Blue Tarantula

Common Name:Cobalt Blue Tarantula
Scientific Name: Haplopelma lividum

Status:
Small: Captive Bred
Juvenile: Captive Bred
Large: Wild Caught

Country of origin - Thailand
Habitat: Ground dwelling
Suitability:  Not for beginners!

My Opinion:
The Cobalt Blue has the most beautiful iridescent blue colouring. They are very aggressive and fast moving tarantulas but so gorgeous that they are a very popular pet spider and highly sought after. I certainly wouldn't recommend them for beginners and I most certainly would never recommend handling one (it would undoubtedly bite you). They do tend to burrow a lot and therefore require a deeper layer of substrate than some other species.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is difficult to give a size for the spiders as stock is constantly changing. Generally, the small size is a spiderling up to 1.5cm body length (small will be SMALL), juvenile is a grown on spiderling with a body length of about 1.5cm, medium 2cm to 4cm and a large is 4cm to fully adult (but a lot depends on the species!)

If you would like me to measure the body length of any medium or large spider, please send me an email. I cannot measure the body length of small and juvenile size spiders as they are constantly changing.

All spiders are unsexed unless stated.
