Common Name: Blue Pink Toe Tarantula (Martinique Pink Toe)
Scientific Name: Caribena versicolor (formerly Avicularia)
Status: Captive Bred
Country of origin - Martinique, Dominica & Guadeloupe
Habitat: Tree dwelling
My Opinion:
I love the 'furry and friendly' Caribena tree spiders and I think this is probably the most beautiful of them all! They are quite difficult to start off as spiderlings but well worth the effort. The spiderlings need warmth and humidity but they do not like stale conditions. I find a jar with moss and netting or bark to hide in and opened once a day for 'airing' works well. The spiders are easy to care for when they have moulted two or three times. I assume that it is for this reason that the spiderlings are generally available but I rarely come across larger specimens at a reasonable price.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is difficult to give a size for the spiders as stock is constantly changing. Generally, the small size is a spiderling up to 1cm body length (small will be SMALL), juvenile is a grown on spiderling with a body length of 1cm to 2cm, medium 2cm to 4cm and a large is 4cm to fully adult (but a lot depends on the species!)
I am happy to send a photo of any size tarantula spider that you are interested in, just email me!
All spiders are unsexed unless stated.
